Well guys, just thought I'd share with you all my last adventure to my favorite pull n' pay. Normally, there's only 1-2 Bullnose Fords in the yard at a time, but plenty more '87-'96, but this time there were 4 in the yard, 3 new to me.
One of them, this guy, was just your ordinary '85 F150, no harm there:
This next one struck me as a bit odd, and upon closer inspection found out it was an '83 Bronco XLS, a trim I never thought was offered on the Bronco:
But THIS one hit closer to home... a 1980 Custom F150 4spd. 4x4 that I went to town on:
So of course all my attention was focused on the '80, and I walked away with both 1980-only clear park/turn lenses, both 1980-only slider locks, the '80-'81 F-O-R-D letters from the hood (which unfortunately didn't come off cleanly), and the '80-'81 "Custom" and "F150" badges.
Since one of my "Ranger" badges was broken in half, and I only had one good "Custom" badge, I did a little name-changing... Now I don't know which I like better:
Ranger F100:
Ranger F150:
Custom F100:
Custom F150:
Just for kicks, here's the Custom's VIN sticker compared to mine, both were built in the same month, several hundred miles from one another:
1980 Ranger F100:
1980 Custom F150:
Anyways, enough of my rambling, just figured some of y'all might want a glimpse of the madness caused by owning the '80 model year... it causes severe bouts of insanity...
This next one struck me as a bit odd, and upon closer inspection found out it was an '83 Bronco XLS, a trim I never thought was offered on the Bronco:
Not only was it offered on the F-series, it was offered on the Bronco, the Bronco II, and the Small Ranger as well.
Did an image search and this is all I could find on pictures. I find it amusing that the only representation of the Ranger XLS was a Shop manual cover... Must be extremely rare trimline anymore...

Actually the clear turn signal lenses were used 1980-1981 models to a production date of 11/80.
The Slide Locks were used on 1980-1981 models to a production date of 12/80.

There were mid year 1981 changes to both.
I knew the XLS package was more common on the smaller Rangers and Broncos, but I knew it was a rarity on the F-Series, and this was the very first Bronco I've ever even heard of with it. As far as the lights and locks go, I recall the manufacture date now that you mention it. Guess all the '81's I've ever seen have been later '81's lol.
Nice finds.
Do they always stack them up like that? The only ones they stack around here are the ones headed for the crusher. Otherwise, they are in nice, neat rows with space between them.

The only time they stack them here is if they've been sitting around for a while but still have interest from customers. These three, however, were destined for the crusher immediately and weren't even put in the "parting" section, as with the other cars sitting in that section.
