69 f250 help

Need help should I not have 12 volts at the pos side of the start relay going to switch? My truck was running fine then one day it would not turn off. I pulled coil wire to stop. Next morning looked and the wiring from the pos. Side of start relay to the split going to switch and also out to coil and distributor was all melted. I replaced with new wire. Replaced switch start relay, coil. I looked at wire diagrams can not find what looks like in line fuse. Now was and voltages and only have 6 volts at pos side start relay and same at pos side of coil. Not sure now what?

Have ya still got points in the ignition? Not that it would make any difference for this test. Try a jumper wire from the positive side of the battery to the positive side of the coil. Disconnect the wire there now so ya don't get a feed back that may have a short in it. If all is good and it starts than the problem is still between the ignition coil and switch I would think. Anyway this is the first thing I would do to test it.

still no start. Guess I need to try and buy a new coil. Checked the other one I had. Ohms checked from pos to center and neg to center had 13 ohms. Pos to neg didn't show open. Trying not to just shotgun new parts at it. Hate to burn out new ones if problem is elsewhere.

Could be yer points are burnt or the condenser is blown from the problem ya had before. With the jumper wire on do ya have any spark at the point's? even a spark from a screw driver shorting the points will tell if yer getting power there. but so will a volt meter or test light for that matter. I always just stick a screw driver in them to see what is what. Now ya still dont have 12 volts to the + side of the coil from the key right? If so ya should fix that first and than not have it as a problem.

Replaced just about all the ignition components. Hoping one of them fixed why it didn't turn off. Thanks for the help. Running good now.
