trans differences

My 87 f150 has 4spd. My parts truck 88 f150 also has 4spd. The shifter in my truck is straight and the 88 trans shifter has a bunch of angles. Also my tcase shifter shifts straight up and down the 88 tcase shifter you have to move the shifter over to shift in low range what is the difference between the 2

What are the transmission codes on the door stickers?

My 87 says trans B. the 88 says trans F

The 87 is a TOD, also referred to sometimes as a T170FT. It is similar to the older toploaders, but has an aluminum case and the shifter mounts on top. Third gear is 1:1 and fourth is overdrive.

The 88 looks like a T-18 or T-19 going by a quick internet search. Both of those have a granny gear first and 1:1 fourth gear.

I don't have any experience with transfer cases so I'm not much help there.

Ok next qeustion will the 88 trany work in my 87 with little to no modding and will the 88 clutch fit in my 87 f150 trany cause the 88 clutch is brand new

If the engines are the same, the clutch should swap. If the transmissions are the same length front to back I would think they should interchange easily, but I can't say for sure.
