trans differences
My 87 f150 has 4spd. My parts truck 88 f150 also has 4spd. The shifter in my truck is straight and the 88 trans shifter has a bunch of angles. Also my tcase shifter shifts straight up and down the 88 tcase shifter you have to move the shifter over to shift in low range what is the difference between the 2

The 87 is a TOD, also referred to sometimes as a T170FT. It is similar to the older toploaders, but has an aluminum case and the shifter mounts on top. Third gear is 1:1 and fourth is overdrive.
The 88 looks like a T-18 or T-19 going by a quick internet search. Both of those have a granny gear first and 1:1 fourth gear.
I don't have any experience with transfer cases so I'm not much help there.
