Help needed on trans problem from a speedo change

Hi

Just changed my speedo cluster over to one with a tach
in my 96 F150. It has an electronic trans and a 5.0 V8.
Got the new cluster from a 96 like truck. Pluged it in
and tried it down the road and it worked as it should.

Came back, changed my the speedometer into the tach box,
installed it all back in with no problem. Started the truck,
gauges appeared to work fine, went to put it in gear
for a road test, and nothing. The shaft inside the trans
is turning because when it is put in park, you can hear
grinding, but it will not go into any gear. I think it must
be electrical, bit have run out of ideas. Cable and linkage
move at the trans, all connections I can find are tight.

Anyone had this problem before??

If it's a 4X4, make sure the transfere case is in gear, NOT NEUTRAL

Hey guys.

Thanks for the input. Talk about missing things, that is just
what happened. I did knock the transfer case into neutral
and never noticed it. I knew it was some small thing that
I missed, hate to sound so stupid but sometimes it happens.
