Is it possible for a damaged sparkplug to fry a PCM?

I was trying to get a family members car to start after it just quit running.

Upon inspection of possible causes, I planned to check for spark.

I removed the easiest to get to sparkplug and the electrode came out with

the wire(stuck in the boot).

Anyway, after many other tests I decided to have the car towed to a shop

- I did not want to spend money to buy a fuel pressure gauge-

I called the shop today to see what they came up with.

NO spark - THIS I KNOW

NO fuel pressure.

They were not able to test the PCM so far, but the person I talked to

was saying the PCM may be dead.

ARE THERE OBDII scanners that can partially detect a failed PCM?

I have a basic scanner at the moment and I would like one that can

at least detect a dead or dying PCM/ECM.

They can't detect a bad PCM, but they can help you diagnose it some. The first clue for a serious PCM problem, is when you hook up and it won't talk to you. The first thing to do in this case is make sure all the power to the PCM is good. If that's good, then it's time to get worried about the PCM being dead.

Then, parts of it can go bad. It can give a code, you check everything out including the wiring, and it all checks good, then the PCM is the last suspect.
