Turn signals and flashers went south in my F450 so naturally I look for the flasher relay. Well, it aint exactly out there where it ought to be, but I found it after a while and put in a replacement from the local parts house. Still no dice. Went to Ford dealer and $33.00 later I have signals again. So I'm thinking, did I just get a gimpy relay from the parts house or do we have to have the high dollar relays for our trucks?
did you check the fuses first? i put one in from carquest and its been working just fine......did you put the relay in - in the right direction/orientation?
High cost relays are not necessary for these trucks. Bad relay or something else was your problem no the value of the relay. There are no special relays or circuits for our turn signal flashers.
I couldn't see how Ford's flasher relay could be 3x better than the parts house relay. Prolly just a bad relay from the parts house. Of course, they won't take it back since I tried it. I guess I shoulda put it up to my forehead and brain scanned it before installation to see if it was defective. Thanks for the replies guys.
I had to go with synthetic blinker fluid after I switched all my lights to LED's.
Sorry, sometimes I can't help myself...
However, I did have to add load resistors to make my flasher work correctly.
I'm not able to help, but consider this a bump!
I'm still running the old school smoke in my electronics. I plan to do the fluid mod as soon as money allows. So, do you see any improvement in mileage by going to synthetic?

Oh yeah, 65mpg all day long and the truck makes 1000hp easy now.
Too bad the stuff is so hard to find!
Just remember, if ya ever let that smoke out - its very difficult to put back in and make the part work again.
Glad you are at least working again, sorry about the bad luck...
I replaced my last month, it didnt work. Took it back and got the more expensive one thinking it was that. Put it in and it didnt work either. Checked all the fuzes before all this and all was well. I got looking by the relay and noticed a wire wasnt put in all the way. Pushed it in and wah lah. Works great.
