Hey y'all. The left and right blinker won't work, but the hazard and brake lights do work. I replaced the blink relay circuit but it still won't work. By the way, I have a '77 f150 4x4.
It's not a relay; as it's only a 2 terminal device (a relay has to have at least 3). The control circuit and contact circuit are the same circuit; so it's not a relay. It's informally referred to as a relay here very often, but it's not correct.
Which flasher did you replace? As MH said, there are two flashers. There should also be a fuse for the turn signals; make sure it's not open-circuit.
I'm having the same problem. I've checked and found only one flasher unit, it's on a harness hanging down near the steering column. Where is the other flasher unit located? I've checked my Haynes manual and it shows only one flasher too. Can anybody point me in the direction of the other flasher? BTW, mine is a 77 F150 also.
dont feel bad i have a 78 2wd it took me about an hour to find mine but its there it is on the left side of the dashon the side up from the dimmer switch mine was still in the original holder ur gonna need a good flash light
I found the flasher and unfortunately it wasn't the problem. Next I'm going to pull the wheel and do some poking around. I think it's going to be the switch. I've got a new one ready to go. Looks like the instrument cluster has to come out to get to the plug, huh?
I don't know about an automatic, but when I replaced the switch in my '78 4-speed, I didn't need to take the instrument cluster out. Just take the plastic molding that is around the steering shaft off, and the wire should pull out a little bit IIRC.
