What up guys. As some of you might remember, i've been fighting this harmonic noise in my truck. I've thrown everything at it except the kitchen sink....turbo, foiled cac tube, new clutch, pressure plate, turned flywheell..etc. Well, i got a chance to buy a so-called 40k mile zf6 for 700 buks. My question and deal is, would you go for it, hoping it'll fix the problem..(plus i think my synchros are gone), or spend the extra 600 buks and get my trans swapped out from a reputable shop with a 1yr/12k mile warranty. ALSO...if i buy this trans, would any of you be interested in my trans as a core for 200 buks plus shipping? As always, thanks for any/all info.
I would go for option C on this one. By the used tranny use it as a core for a builty one by a good shop. Later down the road have your stock tranny rebuilt and make some $ off of it on a rainy day... Just IMO
Nolan, by doing that, i'd be cut'n my own 4inch off...
$1350 = my trans now gets rebuilt...OR
$700 = "so called" 40k tranny, but i have my old one as well.
PLAN "C"
$700 = old tranny + $1350..(use as core for a beefed up one)
$1350 = my tranny now, get iit rebuilt, but then try to sell it?
If i can sell it, most i get would probably be what i have into it. Convincing a buyer that its a "new/rebuilt" with no miles, let alone i cant offer warranty would be a tough sell.
Trust the seller? I might roll the dice on the $700 option. I went with a (rebuilt) MidWest Trans for about $2k and have been happy so far. They do all the upgrades found in newer ZF6's.
Ya jay, he's sticking to his guns with 700 buks. Was 850obo. Tried the low-ball coming in at 4, then up to 626. He still didnt bite. Either not hard up for $$$ or this tranny is just THAT GOOD of shape/low miles.
