Unhappy Steering Box Ajustment

Hi everyone,
Can someone out there give me a "DETALED VERSION" of what steps you take to set up a steering box in a
51 F-1. I have the box on the bench, and want to do as much as possable before I install in the truck.
Thanks all for any help.
Dan

Dan,

Dan,
Actually, I ended up finding your post from 5/11/03 three pages back! You might want to send "Kenny" an E-mail requesting this info. He seems to have a lot of "how to" books and in the past has been kind enough to download pix and instructions right out of manuals. REALLY helped me out on more than a couple of occasions. Sorry my first plan didn't pan out for you, but try asking Kenny.

Regards,
Daryl

PS- any plans in Winnipeg to replace The Jets? Quebec couldn't have been too thrilled now that the Nordiques/Avalanche became so successful AFTER leaving Canada.

Dan,

The procedures outlined in your thread referenced by Daryl should be good for your 51. Here is a link to that earlier thread.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=117695

To give you a little more info, here is the page from the 1956 Shop Manual detailing how to adjust the steering. I realize it's not exactly your year, but the procedure should be very similar if not identical.

If you'd like to have anything more detailed for your specific truck you will probably have to pick up a 1951 Shop Manual from the on-line store, MotorHaven. The Shop Manual is a great investment - lot's of information you won't get anywhere else! Good luck on your project!
