Unhappy New Job, less time, ...

I will transition into a new job (within the corporation I have been with for a little over 13 years now) starting today. On one hand it is good news (more pay, one step up the ladder, ...), but on the other hand I know that I will have less time for my private life (...and that includes my truck). I still plan on having my engine make noise this summer. Guess I will get there. However, I will not be working on the truck at the pace I did over the last 12 month. Well, that's life I guess ...

So don't be worried if you see less stupid input from me in the future. Guess no one will miss me anyway, but at least one or the other could make me believe that I am missed.

Good thing about the old trucks is that things go so much faster. Last night I removed the headers (again, because I have to pull the engine again) in just under 15 minutes. Guess if I ever have to pull them on my 67 Mustang I should better plan on 15 hours. Now I just need to figure how I can slice the whole project into 15 minute pieces. Hmmmmm.

Kai,
You'll definitely be missed... and I was hoping my reference to Freaky Europeans and the Orange Autoban monster would have proved your response. And it did!
Your input is far from "stupid" BTW, as I have the market on that!

Congratulations on your promotion!!! Maybe with all your money you could paint the Orange monster afterall??? Naaaah, we'd never recognize her if you did + we'd never believe it ! LOL

Cheers,
Daryl

Hi Kai...
The thing about moving up the corporate ladder is that it seems to drain the fun out of a guy. At least I had seen that happen to many in my years in aerospace. I see no danger in that happening to you... your finely honed sense of humor and humility will take you far! On the other hand, your truck isn't going anyplace. It will wait there patiently for you.
You've got to remember, as you ruthlessly pursue your corporate business, that your fellow FTE'ers are always here for you. If you feel that things are less fun than they should be... drop by for a laugh. There are some really funny guys here on this board.
Miss you? Many of us will. Like your truck, we will be waiting here patiently for you. Your friend. Himmelberg

Good luck on the promotion Kai, your regular input and humor will be missed. With less free time available always remember to keep your priorities in the correct order. Old Ford trucks are high on that list, but not at the top.

Kai,

I have enjoyed your posts and your sense of humor and will miss your posts. It is as if we have an extended family, a family that welcomes new members and puts up with the old ones. And when we go away for a few days of a few weeks, our family accepts us back.

Keep trying to convert those Beemer drivers to vintage American iron.

Best of luck in your new job

Hands

Kai,

I haven't been here for very long, but it was long enough to read and enjoy your posts, and they will be missed!

Kai,
Congratulations on your new position. I hope that it is all you want it to be.
You've been at this long enough to know that you will eventually get back to the truck (and the board) and we will welcome you back, gladly!

Good Luck,

You could still use the companies internet to hang out here still. You may get fired though. Or maybe depromoted. Good Luck on your promotion.

BTW It's not stupid input. We prefer harmless ramblings.

Kai, Congrats on the promotion!

I think you are still quicker than most! How many of us could fab a complete exhaust system in a day!

I'm amazed at the stuff you accomplish in such short time, not to mention the lack of resources for american parts there are in Germany. You are an inspiration! Try not to stay away too long!

Ah Kai, you will be missed. I hope your new job goes well and you are able to spend some occasional time here. And don't let your truck work stop completely!

Kia

As stated above, You won't stay away too long, the Orange Autobahn Eater will be blowing "Merc's" off the road, and you will still be adding your sage advice.

I know this won't apply to you, but back when I was playing in the real world someone passed this along to me

"Life at work is like a tree full of monkeys, all on different limbs at different levels
Some of the monkeys are climbing uo, some down
The monkeys on the top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces
The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but a**holes"

What are we to do for that US-German perspective??

Hey, congratulations on the move up. I've got lotsa work responsibilities = lots depending on my plant to make a living, but even if I dont actually put a hand on a wrench, I can go mentally into the garage, under the dash and see it all happen!
Relaxing and good for the soul.

Dont be a stranger
