Overdrive question ( maybe tranny problem )
hello before I ask want to thank all you because this forum is awesome helped me alot so here it goes
I have 97 ford f250 LD pick up and I driving and decided to turn off overdrive and the tranny would not go on after 3 rd gear is this normal or tranny has an issue ?????
separate qusetion from above
when im driving 1 st and 2 nd gear change fine but 3 rd around 55 to 60 mph takes a little longer than 1st and 2nd as with 4 th gear I think it takes a litle longer as the truck has to go faster or maybe the tranny has a problem anyways maybe one of you guys can tell

Sounds like an internal trans issue.
You just stated the same thing two different ways.
Does the OD lamp ever flash?
Are there and trans codes set as trouble codes?
If no, there is a mechanical issue in the trans.
The codes are mainly all electrical as the PCM can't see most mechanical issues unless it affect electrical operation.

I'm confused. If you lock out overdrive, the top gear will be 3rd. 4th is what is locked out.

i guess that answer my question about the OD on and off .... I guess i still have to look into that 3 rd gear gear delay thank u
