Need belt first, then clutch parts, I guess!!
My 1988 f150 4.9 is finally getting even. The clutch went a two weeks ago. I have to start the engine in the gear I want, otherwise it can't shift into gear. Seems like the clutch is grabbing close to the floor, so I doubt it is the plates. How about the slave unit???
But, a week ago Friday night, the smog pump seized and now I have a broken pump, and broken serpentine belt. I don't have air conditioning, and the smog pump has had its pulley removed. Does anyone know which belt I need to buy if I want to bypass the air pump? I bought a new pump from Advance Auto, but the problem is that I can't get the old pump off. Snapped the main bolt that goes through the casting and spits out the far side. I haven't loosened the bottom bolt yet. I am guessing it might snap too. Connecticut uses too much calcium chloride!!
Which brand, size belt do I need if I want to run the truck with no smog pump, and I have no AC to begin with?
Any Connecitcut ford clubs around? I need to find the Ford gear heads and pick some brains.
Thanks.
