Got rained out today, so I thought I'd do some investigating on my hard start that's already creeped up on me and the weather isn't cold yet. Yup I'm the first to talk about it this year! Passenger side VC GP plug pin was burnt as well as GP engine harness pin. 3 GP's tested bad, so it's time to do em all, I just hope the current ones are motorcraft. Priced single engine harness pigtail, single UVCH harness, VC gasket and 8 GP's from Clay and it's around 220. Not too bad. I'm hoping to have them ordered this weekend. I want to get this done before the weather gets too bad.
I need to do that again too Todd. GP's are probably ok, haven't ohmed them yet but they aren't very old and motorcrafts, but outer harnesses gp pins are burning up again. At least 1 is, didn't really check farther. The dormans lasted me a few years, but this winter I'll order some from clay too.
Gizmo was helping. I'm pretty sure stripe was chewing on VC harness. The rain was definitely not helping my cause Darin!
On a different note, I've yet to be inside the VC's on my truck or a PSD for that matter. When changing GP's, do I need to worry about oil in the cylinders or is it just RR?
I think I used to have a Trapper Keeper with gremlins on it when I was in school. lol
You may get a little oil in the cylinders when you swap the GP's. It won't be much, but if you really want to play it safe it's best to just pull the GP's all out, leave the injectors unplugged, pull the PCM relay, put the VC's back over the heads, then hit the key for a few seconds. That will blow all the oil out.
Trapper keepers, gremlins, thundercats oh my...just a trip back in time thee..how bout voltron, atari,? Haha yet another ot venture...
I bet the whole problem is a clogged canooter valve!

On a brighter note, my turbo looked to be in excellent shape when I was in there. No play and the fins looked pristine. My 6637 has been on a while as well.
This thread may have been slightly hijacked and off topic, just a little anyway. I had to bring up the gremlins though, after I saw the title and then rain right away, it was a must do!
