What should expect from a 2005-2007 f250 with a 6.0 for fuel mpg? im trying to decide what to get in my next truck i dont tow alot but trying to figure out if the cost of a 6.0 is really worth it over a gas engine. So thanks for any input
Just bought a 2006 6.0/3.73 gears/5 speed AT/od and have the following...
Total around town..14
Straight highway at 65...19.2
Some town and highway at 65-75...16.2
That contrasts to my 1996 7.4/3.55 gears/4 speed od that averages:
19-23 highway
17-19 town
The power difference is very noticeable. The 2006 is easily a rocket off the line. The 96 "winds up"....
Both trucks are F250/SuperCrew/Shortbox. LT265-70-16 on the 96 and LT275-70-18 on the 06.
thanks well i will wait for more input on this one because i know people that have gas engine that get 16 ish on the highway and im trying to decide if the the diesel get enough to over come the extra fuel cost here in connecticut diesel cost morre than premium gas
My 06 6.0L diesel F350 4X4 CC LB gets 21.5 MPG on level
freeway when un-loaded And I can be a lead foot around
town I get about 15.5MPG un-loaded.
This was hand calculated.
I have a friend who runs a 2002 or 03 F350 SuperCrew Dually 6.0 4.11/LT265 tires that gets 21 on the highway unloaded. He uses a Edge Juice Programmer.
As to the 7.3, I have a friend who is a diesel mechanic who was getting mid-20s with a early 1990s standrad cab long box dually....with a standard transmission.
My parents live in Ct. Just got diesel for $4.22 at the Sam's Club in Newington Monday. Most other stations are close to $4.30. Here in NH it is in the $3.95 range...
