So I was reading the internet one night at work, and I came accross some site that stated some tunes for newer pickups that were like 200-250 hp that passed emissions without the DPF on.
Here's why I'm curious....
Instead of adding a DPF and regen's, why didn't they just add a propane system ?
200 HP would cover 80% of most power in most driving situations, and the remaining fuel could be provided from a bottle....
I'm sure a propane system could have been implemented cheaper than a DPF, and would have operated a lot nicer.
On a side note, has anyone noticed how black and sooty some tailpipes are on some newer gas vehicles? When are they getting particulate filters?
