Hi all, new member here...I recently bought this truck to haul scrap and haul mowers, but just love driving it...It has 123k which I believe are original miles...everything still works Cruise, A/C ,all lights and drives smooth and quiet... A few questions I have and hope someone can help are....
1. What rearend does this have?
2. What is the best transaxel oil to run in the 4-speed and rearend?
3. What should be some things to look for as in issues that may be normal
for this truck.
And the sunvisors droop, the windows whistle & rattle in their channels, hood linings fall down, & the drip rail emptys in the window if it's down - otherwise, great trucks!
This era truck all had these small issues which are well documented (with their fixes) in past posts.
But apart from a couple of weaker transmission options which could give trouble if abused, & slightly weak steering boxes, these aren't bad trucks.
thanks for the responses guys.......Everythin still works on the truck as of now but I have 1 issue I cant figure out.
There's a noise like the shock is broke on the drivers front...almost like something slapping up against the bottom of the truck when I go over small bumps in the road. everything seems to be tight underneath but when I take a country drive I hear this noise.

I would also take a good look at all the bushings. These would be the ones that I would look at first.
ya I noticed that had some play in it.....what are those bushings called and are they easy to replace? could that be making the noise I'm hearing when going on a bumpy road? thanks
They're the radius arm bushings, & yes, they can bump & bang. They can also affect your steering if they are bad enough.
Replacing them is a bit of a job, but not too bad. Some people drill out the rivets on the chassis bracket to shortcut the job, but it's not necessary.
