If you get the Explorer motor you won't be using the Explorer computer or any of the wiring that comes with it.. unless you want to make this project REAL complicated. Yes the Explorer is mass air but it's also OBD-2 and the transmission is computer controlled so there would be a whole lot of re-wiring and a rigging of things just to get the computer to run decent enough without that transmission attached. And besides.. the Explorer motor will run on the truck EFI system and YES it'll make more power than what you have now. However I'd suggest you strip it down to the longblock and install the truck intake, timing cover and water pump and accessory brackets and pulleys, all those parts from the Explorer are not compatible with a truck install.
forget it exploder motor is toast, heads might be usable, but i dont think anything else is, so i got a harness out of an 88 f150 for 10 bucks gonna do the re-wire
Gonna rewire what.
An 88 doesn't have any wires you need to convert to maf.
Unless you have a maf plug already, you're going to need one.
And you could have cut your existing injector harness to add longer wires from injectors to ecu. All I can think of needing a complete harness for would be to cut wires out from ecu plug and add pins to your existing one for injectors and misc stuff.
I don't understand what you're going to rewire with the 88 harness.
