Trying to get my turbo out and having a heck of a time. Tried taking the EBPV off but the top 12point bolt rounded off. Does this absolutely HAVE to come off to remove the turbo? Seems like i could get to the passsenger exhaust manifold bolt if the downpipe wasnt there. Extremely frustrated.
It doesnt HAVE to come off, but it makes the rear pedestal bolt a major PITA. Remove the downpipe and push it down as far as you can. Youll need an extension and a universal to get to the rear bolts. Unbolt the up pipe collector first, thatll make it a little easier.
I've done it twice, its always a PITA. Quarter inch socket with extensions and swivels and you just have to go fishing blind for the drivers rear bolt. Once I worked at it for what seemed like a half hour and finally got the socket on the bolt. I reached for my rachet and couldn't reach it!! I refused to let go of the bolt so I called my wife on my cell and she came out of the house and gave me the rachet, LOL.
Everythings unbolted and turbo is loose. Everything you guys said worked great. Except it will not come out. Seems like the EVBP actuator cylinder is hitting off the exhaust flange. Always one last snag.
When i was pulling turbo off of the engine, i pulled turbo straight off the lower mounting studs, then rotate the front bottom part of the pedistal out first.
Finally got it. Man what a job. Now to delete the EBPV. What is the best way to modify the pedestal so that i wont get oil leaks from the cylinder and such?
Thats a well done mod. However just afew minutes ago i ordered a deleted pedestal just to make things alittle simpler. I am also installing electric fuel in this process and im kinda overwhelmed at the moment.
You guys have helped alot and i really appreciate it. Thank you all.
I bought the one from Beans Diesel Performance, sorta pricey though. There are guys on here who have modified theirs, maybe a search or someone will come along.
