i just disconnected my clutchrod under the dash the clutch pedal moves easy disconnected where i took the rod off going out firewall to master cylinder is ablack looks like a little wipermotor with wires going to it my manual don t show it dose anybody know what it is would it cause ahard clutch ??
You may be looking at the safety switch that only allows the starter to crank when the clutch pedal is depressed. I believe it is located on or adjacent to the clutch pushrod and seems there are a lot of wires going to it. As for the hard clutch, the bushing is a little plastic thing that fits inside the eye of the master cylinder pushrod. I am wondering though if the throwout bearing and/or slave cylinder could be binding on the tranny input shaft to give the hard to press pedal.

some older models had firewall trouble at the point where the pedal mounts. open your hood and have someone check the firewall for cracks when you depress the pedal. I believe ford has a repair for this.
i replaced the bushings and a clutchspring under the dash the clutch is not as hard to mash now but the clutch grabs at the bottom bout an inch off the floor hard to get first second or rev.but with engine off it ll go in all the gears easy will aslauve cylinder go bad and not use fluid mine stays full but i noticed it is a junkyard part because it s marked i don t think it s the clutch because it don t slip any info. thanks
Clutch grabs about one inch off floor? Do you mean that is where it engages? It should engage higher up than that (I am thinking several inches). Wonder how many miles are on that clutch? I had a clutch go at about 60,000 miles. It was burnt and warped (not my fault, used vehicle) and started grinding gears, but as far as the friction action goes I never noticed any slippage.
i just bought it so i don t know how many miles is on it but yes the clutch engauges an inch off the floor i don t mind putting an clutch in but i don t think it s the clutch someone has put junkyard clutch mastercylinder an slauvecylinder on it
okay i put new clutch pressureplate throwout bearing pilot bushing had flywheel turned clutch pedal easy now goes into gear perfect no grinding but pedal still grabs close to floor manual says clutch adjusteds itself should i try bleeding it it also cranks with key everytime now thanks
Wow great. 99% of your trouble is fixed. Don't know why it still engages near the floor. Let's see if anyone else knows or maybe it would come up after a little use (how's the fluid level?).
