i have never had trouble with a ford style fuel filter before, but after removing the plastic clips the hoses will not simply slide off the filter like all the others have. The filter is old looking, not rusty but old. Is there something in the fittings that can seize??? I even used a screwdriver to pry up on the fitting from the filter.
Like I said, dumb problem to have. I just don't want to have to replace the fuel lines by prying too hard.
Are you using a fuel line disconnect tool? The little metal or plastic deal that slides into the fuel line coupler. I have this set, always worked: Great deal on Lisle 37000 at ToolTopia.com
If it has the plastic, U shaped clips it should just pull apart, no tool required. Maybe spray some penetrating oil in there and try to turn the filter.
My bad on the info, will the option for a sig just show up one day in my control panel??
97f250 HD 4x4 with duel tanks. It looks like they both go through the same filter on the drivers side frame. No, I have not tried a line disconnect tool, didn't think it used one! Like I said, this style
has just slid off for me before, but that was a car.
I've had trouble with those I got this fuel/ac line removal tool that looks like double sided scissors with C's on each side making it fit alot of different line sizes. PB blaster, tapped with a hammer and it slid right out (using the tool)
I had a cheap set of plastic disconnect tools and the small grey one worked perfectly after a bit of persuasion. Might invest in a metal set since these fittings appear to be all over the fuel system. I was mistaken about the plastic clips, they came with the new filter but were not used.
