Hopefully will have this in the garage in a week or so. New 2012 XLT Super Crew 2WD. Bronze in color. Convenience and chrome pkg. 5L V8. 355 Rear end.
Never had a new truck. Never had a new car for that matter. Other than a couple company cars: Taurus and Jeep Cherokee sport (piece of crap).
Was getting ready to buy a Ram 1500, crew cab 4x4 Big Horn edition. This one dealer had about 60 of them on their lot, all $9000-$10,000 off sticker. I went on their website one evening, the day before i was going to go pick one out, and they had dropped their F150s the same amount.
Granted, that much off the sticker price of an F150 is still about $1000-$1500 more than a comparable Ram, but I wound much rather have the Ford.
I hope everything works out financially and we can do this. If so, I'll be putting some pics on here.
Welcome and congrats! I recently purchased a new XLT super crew, and I must admit I am still impressed with what Ford did with these trucks over the previous generation. Post lots of pics when you get it.
Hey Blue, hows the 5.0 working out for you? Milage OK? I see a lot of posts on here about how good the Ecoboost is, but it's mainly commenting on the power NOT the MPG. The most I'll be pulling is 6x8 trailer with a mower / 4-wheeler on it.
the mpg of the 5.0 will be comparable to the Ecoboost from my experience. Towing the load you mention will not fizz the 5.0. The most noticable difference is where the torque/power is applied. I've got an Ecoboost and it it really makes me happy, but I've recently driven a 5.0 for a week and really enjoyed it as well...
I keep getting the itch for a new truck. I use to buy a new F series truck on an average of every 2 1/2 years and it's right at that point now. I have no other major expenses and can hardly think of a reason not to except that I'm getting a little wiser in my old age. My 2010 XLT Screw is in perfect condition. It gets 21 mpg on the highway and it got everything I want except factory navigation. I haven't had any issue with it and It will be paid for in a couple of years so I think everything will stay status quo. That way I can spend a little here and there on more doo-dads.

I sure understand your desire for one...I am waiting for the 2013's to hit the dealers so i can see all the different colors and interior colors. The 2013 has the HID headlights and the power telescoping and folding mirrors that I really want...not to mention the 700 watt stereo and My key!

i am getting about 14.5 around town but its not broke in yet with 700 miles on it. lol on my last trip (275 miles) i got 18.8 on the freeway doing 75 mph. the one thing is i love the sound of the 5.0 what with its throaty roarer. i tend to stand on it a little to here it. so i could do better i am sure! my work truck 5.0 4x2 is getting 16 so its all driving style now all this is buy the lie-o-meter in the dash!
