Lightning headers on a 302

Lightning headers on a 302

Found a set of Stock lightning headers for cheap, Would they work on my 96 302?

not familiar with those headers. Are they long tubes or shorties? Either way,they will bolt up to the heads,but the rest of the exhaust will need to be modified because the 351 is taller then the 302 so the exit points will be different. you may also have to add a bung for the O2 sensor.

Shorty headers that go to a Y pipe. I was told I would need a 351 Y pipe to work with the headers

yes,that is true,or the one for the 302 could be modified to work. The 5.8 is taller/wider then the 5.0 so the exhaust would need adjustments to make it work.

See now I would think you'd need a y pipe for a 302 rather then the 351 even thought the headers are for a 351.

Looked up couple sets of headers, as suspected the part numbers are different 302 / 351.

Suspect your looking for someone that's already done it/tried it, get a solid answer either way!

I put mustang headers on my 302 and a magnaflow y pipe and because of how the headers dumpped I had to modify my y pipe. I would just roughly eye them and see how they look to be around your y pipe and go from there

I cant remember his name. ( I havent been getting on much) but he has a Lightning and a 302 F150 and he used the lightning shortys but Im not sure about what the rest of his setup was.

Ill try and find him.
