Well I finally got my rear parking brake cables raplaced and also replaced the brake shoes and both work like a charm. Is there a way to rebuild parking brake cables?
I'm confused - if you replaced them why do you want to rebuild the old ones?
Having said that I actually did rebuild one. I had a pretty good case but a snapped cable. I measured the cable length and went to a sail rigger and bought the cable and had them crimp on the retainer *****. Worked great - that was 15 years or so ago so prices would be markedly differrent now. Good luck...
Whats the procedure for adjusting the parking brake after replacing the cables? How much tension should be on the rear cables with out the parking brake on? Or is it just keep adjusting until you get drag on the rear wheels and then back off?

Sort of like this but,
With the drum off adjust the cables until the lever just starts to move the center bar. The lever acts against the centering bar to push each shoe. The cables need a bit of free play as you pull out the handle.
Make make sure you replace the long spring that helps keep the front cable in slight tension.
Boy I'd hate to have to pull that dana 60 rear end apart again to get at the brakes. Looks like a next weekend project to me. And by the way were is this Long Spring located?
