1949 F1 Flathead V8 8BA races at full throttle when started
Hello,
I recently installed a new winning Harness, fuel tank, battery, etc. I did a lot of work over the weekend. Engine ran fine before I started now for some reason when I start it it races at full throttle max rpm without pressing on the gas at all. I took the carb a part and cleaned the flow, jets, etc. The throttle linkage is fine not stuck open. Any idea n what's causing this problem. Would this be a wiring issues or is it an issue with internal components in the carb? Thanks for your help!

The only way that your engine can rev up is if a lot of air-fuel mixture is allowed to go through the carb. The carb throttle plate is open to o far. Take a flashlight and look down into the carb. The throttle plate should look closed at idle. If the throttle plate is closed with the engine off and it revs up when the engine starts, something is pulling the plate open.
