Hey guys I'm having the bucking and bogging problem that just started so let me fill you in on the truck real quick. 1990 f250 idi 7.3 182xxx miles which has: New batteries, positive and negative cables, glow plugs, and I had a shop replace my injector caps and o rings. Last time I drove the truck was a month ago and it was fine the last night it drove fine when it was cold but once warm it started bucking under light-medium throttle and it will bog down also but when I step on it it doesnt always downshift. I read that my ip could be going bad but what else might cause this? I don't know much about this truck so for all I know it could still be on stock ip and injectors.also what vehicles might I be able to yank an ip from at the junk yard?
How's the fuel filter if its plugged up u would run low on fuel when u stepped on the smoke pedal. Also ur lift pump may be weak and not able to supply the proper amount of fuel
Your explaining two different problems from what I get
started bucking under light-medium throttle and it will bog down also but when I step on it it doesnt always downshift. I read that my ip could be going bad but what else might cause this?
The FIPL would cause it not to down shift if its going bad or out of range.
First check your fuel filter, lift pump. Then you can go from there. No point in replacing stuff that isn't bad. I replaced my lift pump but it was probably fine.
I'm dealing with the same problem. But mine is worse but started out much the same. It started out like that. Now my truck dies all the time. My fss is bad and is being replaced this weekend. I figured out that pouring water on top of where the fss is on the injection pump that the truck acts normal until the fss heats up again.
Saying it boggs down i don't think has to do the with the transmission. Mine would do that too.
hey guys thanks for all the replies, the back tank which i run on is very slightly under half a tank and im not sure on the back tank since my fuel gauge doesnt work on the front tank but my guess would be half a tank. i will have to do some research on how to check the lift pump because im pretty new to older trucks and diesels in general, i will also have to check the fipl sensor you guys mentioned
