MX or C6?

MX or C6?
I will soon be aquiring a '66 F-250. It has no engine, but the original MX tranny is there and supposedly in working condition. I have a fresh 390 rarin' to go and a C6 if I need it. My question is: Should I leave the MX in and see how it works or should I use the C6? The C6 is fresh, but I will need to modify the drive line to make it work. Any input is very welcome.
