I suspect I have a buildup of general crap including residue of spray waxes on my windsheild, what can I use to really super-clean it (outside) Thanks!
OK, Great info guys, Thanks! but what about a cloth to wipe off what the 0000 steel wool and denatured alcohol loosens up? I'm guessing the clay is kinda like clay baring the paint?

It is.
I think it is finer grit.
It makes a BIG difference in the way your wipers work and how long they last.
If it saves you one set of wipers it has paid for itself.

It is my understanding that paper towels have a glue between the sheets and that will leave a film on glass. I'm wondering about using a micro-fiber towel?
You could also try newspaper, but without any colored ink. also, you could use a mixture of white vinegar and water. My wife used to clean house and swears by both of those.
Thanks guys! I got some denatured alcohol yeaterday at the hardware store, its really more of a solvent and is flamable, so its not sold in the grocery or drug stores.
Gonna clean the outside of my windsheild with it and the 0000 steel wool then wipe with a clean micro-fiber towel and then use some glass plus for the final cleanup...
