Thanks Travis for the input. This sorta go along with what Mike said. He said if I'm not racing it or pulling sleds that I would be fine without the head studs or value springs. Maybe I'll just do them anyway this winter. Hope your project is going good!
Travis when you say stageII's do you mean 160/80 or 180/80 ?
160/80's is what I usually mean when I say stage 2's.
Glenn, IMO if you get it together and it starts getting up around 35+psi, I would start looking into doing studs and springs. Don't take that as saying that much boost will blow the head gaskets though. Cylinder pressure is what lifts the heads. Boost, backpressure, as well as RPMs can float the valves though. If I was in there doing springs, I'd go ahead and do studs at the same time.
Thanks Travis, something to think about. With what I got right now about the worst it gets is I'm in second gear, 40mph, about 14 to 15psi of boost, 1250 EGT and around 3K in rpm's. I've held that for four, five miles with the motor staying relatively cool, amazing cooling systems on these trucks.
