What is my next step ?

I may be wanting to have my cake and eat it too. I have stage one Swamps, big air intake, 3 inch down pipe, 4 inch exhaust, TS 6 stage chip, and a Stock HPOP.

On the dyno it put down 300 hp-730 ft lb torque to the rear wheels. I tow with it, and it does a great job, Truth be known, I don't need any more power, but I want more, and don't want to lose my tow-ability.

I have read about the stage two,s and bigger turbo,s on here, some tow with no trouble and some say not to.

Can you have the bigger injectors and turbo and still have a tow tune with the 6 position chip(egt,s in check), plus the higher hp on the upper positions?

I have a 6.0 inter-cooler already to go on.

I,m just looking for opinions on 450-500 hp and towing. and the best way to do it. Its a 5 speed and 3.55.gears 4x4 ccsb single tire F-250.

If this is unreasonable, where is the line on hp and towing? I value the opinions on this site.

Thanks..............

Blake

A HPOP upgrade would be a good starting point. Get it over with with a new IPR and you will thank yourself down the road.

I would venture to say if you have a 'correct' setup you should be able to be at 500hp and be able to tow without EGT problems.
If you have all the correct supporting mods it should flow just fine to keep your EGTs down. Mainly the correct injectors, tuning, and turbo with a big enough exducer/exhaust housing.
You just gotta make sure your engine can push out the air it is sucking in!

If Neal were around he would probably tell you he wouldnt hesitate towing with his truck which dynos at 500 dyno RWHP.
As long as you watch your EGT gauge and it is in the manifold and not after the turbo you should be fine.

I might add that swapping your axle gearing to 4.10s would probably help.
It also depends what tire size you are running.

Thanks Alex, and everyone else, that's exactly where I want to be. I changed the rear gears to the 3.55's to help on fuel mileage empty. I pull at around 75 to 80 mph on the interstate here, and the 3.55's keep it below 2500 and pulls any hill fine and never have to down shift.

If I drop to 60-65 it gets below the sweet spot and starts dropping off on small hills.

With the 4.10's even at 70 mph it was turning fairly hard. Empty it is getting 18.3 to 18.7 on the interstate, before it was at around 15.5 at 65-70 mph.

I tested the 3.55's by swaping out the rear housing (fairly easy on my lift) and tested it by pulling my friends 32 ft inclosed (about half the weight of my 24 ft and taller) and it pulled it good, only pulled down on one hill and that was only 5 mph. So I went ahead and put the front TTB in.

I will get a new HPOP soon. Swamps shop is within 20 min of my house, which set of injectors from swamps would net me the 500 hp along with the other upgrades I need? I have a friend that is a distributor for them.

Thanks

Consider a T500 HPOP from Terminator Engineering. Again you'll thank yourself down the road.

Electric fuel is also a very good option.

As for what injectors would net you 500hp? I am unsure exactly what those would be since many different ones can get you there.
Stage 2s from Jim which I think are 200/100 which are 200cc with 100% oversized nozzles? Not sure on that.

Basically if it were me. I would call Jim Rosewood. Tell him your intentions. He may recommend his 2.5 hybrids since they require less HPO..
and once you know what injectors you want. I would give Joey at Terminator a call to see if he thinks the T500 could support the injectors you are getting.

I am betting the T500 and Stage 2.5 hybrids from JR would be the ticket.

But yes dont forget you will need Electric fuel to feed those bad boys.

Thanks again Alex, sounds like a good path to follow. I have the 900 ft lb South Bend Clutch single disc, do you think I need to step up on clutch also?

I dont know much about manuals, but I know that ceramic clutches are better. IIRC.

I would say if it is rated for 900 ftlb and you are shooting for 500hp..
You will need a better clutch. Just because 500hp should put you about 1000 ftlbs.

Buttttt I would wait until you have reached 500hp and it will tell you if need to.. by whether the clutch goes bad or not. lol
