Hello all,
I'm new to this site. Love the concept "FORD TRUCKS".
Introduction;
I have a '56 f-100 '72 Torino front clip, 351c 4V, C6, 9" w/3.73's
Now that you know me, I have a question for you.
With my combo above I have a problem with traction. When I launch hard I get wheel hop. I know about spring wrap and axle twist, I can't use a traction bar set up (slapper style) due to the axle being under the leafs. I've seen other styles with a welded tab on the axle housing and you mount the other end to the bottom of the frame. I can buy the parts at the local off road shop, but I'd like to hear some input before I go buy a bunch of parts and try to figure out where they go.
Have any of you had luck with this style or know of a pre-fab unit?
Or what about ladder bars? and, can they be used with leafs?
There is alot of give and take to get our hot street trucks to hook up when we add horsrpower. Mine is a 69 Ranger short bed with 393 stroker making around 500 hp, 4-spd toploader and 4:57 locker 9 inch rear. I removed the stock leafs and used a ladder bar spring/coilover setup running 295/50-16's. She doesn't wheel hop but you can light the tires up through the entire gearbox (alittle or alot) but when I mount the slicks it's all traction when they are heated up. Our trucks are light in the rear and at WOT combined with good torque and hp it becomes a smoke show. I'm going to experiment with added weight in the rear of the bed soon to see if this transfer helps with street tires.
