I have a ZF5 with a south bend double disc, well i should say that i did have one. Normally driving it just blew apart last week. I never ride it and it had less than 5000 miles on it, but regardless i need a new clutch. I haul on the farm regularly, and drive 175 miles a day highway for work. I would like to know if i need a single or dual disc and what kind of clutch material i should be looking for. I want it to be a semi smooth ride (as smooth as a 96 f350 crew cab long bed lifted 4 inches can be) but still have plenty of pulling power. Im pushing 500 HP, and really only have 750 to spend. I found a phoenix stage 5 ceramic for 716.99, but have never heard of them before. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Umm
You have a badass diesel I'm assuming. Or a killer bigblock.
I'd think with as little miles on the last clutch they would possibly replace it under warranty.
Valair is one I've used. Single disk. Pretty stout on my 350hp diesel.
You should post in the diesel specific forum to get a better answer.
Ok thank you very much. I have a few pictures of my Powerstroke in my gallery, but i do like to think its pretty bad *** haha. Ill look into the valiars and see what i can find. I think im going to go with an organic/feramic set with 500HP ratings. They seem to be good for hauling and regular driving according to the web. Also i just got the truck a little bit ago so im not sure if south bend would carry that warranty over especially since the previous owner cant find the paperwork, but regardless Thanks again for your help
