New member here, searching the site for a similar problem with a f350 hd van when climbing a minor grade the a/c defaults to the defrost -still cold air, where do I find the vacumm canister to check the lines for leaks or faults. I have checked in engine compartment and lines are good. Could there be a problem in the rear air???
Since you have a van instead of a Super Duty truck, I've moved your post out of the thread in the Super Duty forum and into its own thread in the 1968 - Present Full Size Van forum.
Many people go after the canister via cutting a hole in the wheel well. If not, you have to remove the dashboard.
The check valve sometimes fails. Sometimes just adding a cheap check valve between the engine and the AC system (which is quite easy to do) can resolve the problem.
