i just looked at other lariats on cars.com and none of them have the black thing. imma say its a bracket for a tweeter. one of those things when u wish u had the number to the previous owner so you could call and ask him, hey whats this lol

i bet that door panel is a manual window door panel on a power window truck,
or more likely a manual window truck that had power windows installed, and the black thing is a hole plug.
here is a picture of a 2000 door panel.
you can see the window crank is in the same spot as the plug.

Why do they put the window crank almost on the floor, way down by your feet?
