Hey guys...
I got my Dynomax Ultraflow in yesterday!! Great looking muffler, straight-thru design. Unfortunately I hated the sound. Extremely quiet, very close sounding to stock with just a slight quiet gargle to it. Didn't bark on start-up and when revved I could hear my engine over it. Maybe I'm just used to my dumped Flowmaster. Anyhow... gonna send the muffler back to Summit Racing and buy a K&N filter and fab up my own FIPK. Oh well... live and learn, I wanted quieter but I didn't want silent.
That quiet?! Ah well, I got my Magnaflow and that thing is HUGE! Also, my Hooker long tubes came in the mail today...looks like Memorial Day will be interesting
Hopefully with long tubes, big y-pipe, and high flow cat, my Magnaflow will have some sound to it.
Yeah it was pitifully quiet...
It looked like an awesome muffler, straight-thru design and a small 14" case... I was like "Oh yeah!!" But I started her up and my face dropped... I think I'm just hooked on the Flowmaster tone.
Oh well... My filter came in today!! So I too have something to do over the weekend.
I hope your exhaust system turns out and GOOD LUCK when doing your headers... heard they can be a major PITA!
I think the bad part is getting off the manifolds, but guess what...mine are already gone! Yep, I have some shorty headers on there that are going away for some of those Hookers! I have spoiled myself as I have air tools too.
I am itching to start it up with open LTs and wake the dead's dead relatives! hahaha
Sweet! You're already halfway there man! Just take the shorties off, slap on the long tubes (start it up and rev for kicks ) Then put on the rest. Air tools are AWESOME!
I went with the 6907 Hooker Competition long tubes. Seem like a nice build. I have never heard of anyone with problems from Hookers so...I went with them.
This is my first experience with long tubes so hopefully all is well. I did talk with another member on this board who has the Hookers and likes them very well.
Hey akford351, nice job on ur own FIPK. Did u just buy a filter with the dual inlets? If so, do u think u could give me a part number for which one you used if thats okay? Thanks if u can, i appreciate it. Ive also wanted to do that with mine.
Yeah I just bought the filter from Summit Racing.
Part# KNN-RF-1012
The inlets are 3" and I used 6" pieces of old exhaust tubing that I cleaned out real well and painted flat black. There's another hole on the filter where the vent hose from the valve cover is supposed to go too, but I just kept mine in the stock locating and plugged it with something.
Power is definitely noticable... more mid-range and upper rpm and maybe a lil' lowend. The sound, like Hit Man X said, is awesome. A nice WHOOOSH when startup and when your rollin and hit the throttle it screams!!! I wish I woulda put it on sooner.
