Transmission filter change?
I recently bought a 2000 F150 4.6 V8 4X4 with 36,000 miles on it. This is my first truck and so far I love it. I think that the transmission is not shifting right though. It does not downshift when I punch the gas and it seems to lack a lot of power. I was thinking that changing the transmission filter will help. I was shocked to see that the tranny takes 16 quarts of fluid so I figured that I would ask for advice before wasting my money.
I would also like some advice on what modds work best on the 4.6 liter to increase mileage and performance.

Transmission filter change?
The shift points of the tranny are computer controlled. You may have to drive it with a scanner on the computer to see what is actually happening. It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and change the fluid and filter, but I don't know if it will fix your problem or not.
