I need to change the coil on cyl #4 and am pretty sure it is the passenger side far back one but wanted to check to make sure. I was told that Ford numbers the cylinders 1-4 on the passenger side and 5-8 on the drivers side. Is this correct? I guess it would look like this
BACK OF TRUCK
4-----8
3-----7
2-----6
1-----5
FRONT OF TRUCK
I hope this posts looking th same way as it does right now.
Thanks!
I also would like to know EXACTLY how to release the plug that connects to the coil. I did the #2 coil about 1 month ago but that was easy to get to and I just messed with it and eventually it came off. This #4 one is really hard to get to so I need to know what to do to get the plug off without breaking anything. Any other pointers that would be helpful are also welcome. Thanks in advance.
To release the connector on the coil you just push in the little tab on the bottom side of it and pull on the connector.
You might want to practice on #1 first so you can see how it's done.
To make a bit more room to get at the coil you can move the heater hoses a bit and maybe tie them back.
Also rotate the injector near the coil a bit so it makes a bit more room.
Thanks Dave! I have to pick up the coil today and I'll try to work on it today. If I don't finish it today it will wait till Sunday. It's nice having an extra vehicle! I just wish it would fit in my garage so I could do it in there since we are suppose to get rain tonight and tommorow.
Thanks Again!
