The EGO Boost towed my 18' hauler with my '83 Volvo rally car on it to Newfoundland (from MA) and back over the last 2 weeks without a complaint. Gas mileage could've been better, but we were not driving with economy in mind and it's all mountains between here and there. It's just a sick motor.

so just what MPG did you get pulling that trailer? over 10MPG?
I have not posted in awhile, been pretty busy. The other day I had to pick up a load of wood pellets from a friend and did not have my truck. I used Wendy's truck (you can see below the config). The load was to have been about 1400 lbs but it turned out to be a little over 2K lbs, now her truck is rated at payload total of just shy of 1400 lbs, I was overloaded according to specs. Well this little EB just picked up and rolled down the road like it was having fun being loaded. I was taken back by the pick up even being over wt and still got 19 MPGs on the highway. WOW I know what my next truck will be, Chris.

the EcoBoost seems to be better suited to the consumer who uses their truck mainly for commuting with the occasional heavy hauling.
the EB is VERY capable, no doubt, but around here there are quite a few people who bought them as their main work horse (farmer types), mostly because they can haul heavy stuff with a half-ton instead of the typical 3/4 ton they are used to. The though process appears to be that they can have a comfortable half-ton for their Sunday drives instead of being stuck doing it in their 3/4 ton's. Consequently they have been disappointed in the fuel mileage.
I guess all i'm trying to say is that if you use your truck the way i think you do, the ecoboost will make an excellent workhorse, but just don't let the fuel mileage surprise you.

12.6 mpg at an average of 70 mph. This was through very hilly terrain and some twisty mountain roads between Bangor, ME and the Canadian Border.
I installed a Roush boost gauge last spring to keep track of the boost while towing/regular driving. While you can maximize mpg with daily driving by keeping her off-boost, that's not possible with towing. It's (obviously) always on boost when a heavy-ish trailer is behind it. Not sure what the 5.0L dudes get for MPG in this situation.

i have yet to tow with my 5.0, but tow with the works 5.0, 5.4, 3.5 tt.
i must say my 5.4 at work gets the best MPG pulling a 7100# trailer
it gets 9.6
the 5.0 gets 9.2
and the 3.5 tt gets 8.9
now i know out of the three the 3.5 will walk up a hill the fastest with the least of effort. thats not to say that one motor is better than another. they are all great motors and i was just posting my own experiences with them!
2011 screw egoboost , on Labor day weekend took my trailer to a long week end of food and tequila on the way there had to stop at a light on a hill I was in the correct lane but the guy next to me wasn't, light went green he took off and I knew he wanted to be in my lane so I just mashed it took about 3 seconds for every thing to start working like it should, at about 20 MPH right rear started to break loose backed off a little and got in it again left rear broke loose it doesn't make squeally noises almost like a loud moan , guy next to me looked over at me and he knew he lost the lane . I love the power some times its sneaky and other times WOW. They should not sell these trucks with out a posi its to easy to single track, depending which way your turning is which side breaks loose.
