So my question to acutally hook up something I need to connect to one of the selectable wires
Example - if i was planning to have a second set of back up lights I would need to run one of the wires all the way to the back and thru the cab and along the frame rail to the back bumper?
I'm sure glad to have the upfitters. I use #3 for my 12v. fuel shutoff valve and Airtex fuel pump. This is how I transfer fuel from auxillary tank to aft tank. AutoMeter fuel gauge hooked to aux tank fuel sender gives me the fuel level in this tank. I have the gauge mounted next to driver's grab handle on the door pillar and the gauge sets on dash. You'll find many uses for the upfitter switches.
I run the wires behind driver's kick panel, then the door sill molding and finally out the rubber grommet on the lower back lower left corner of cab. And then of course you can use tie wraps to fasten to inside of frame rail and go wherever you want with the end.
I agree that you will find many uses for those switches and I know I need about 4 more of them. I just wish they would have made the wires a little bit longer so you don't have to lay on your back in the front floorboard to get to them.
I just got new truck and the only option that it didn't have, and I wanted, was the upfitter switches. Is it possible to have them installed aftermarket at the dealer?
There are wires that already run thru with the lume into the eng compartment, they are behind the fuse box drivers side, they are short and a pain to work with but they are there.
The wires are located up above E-Brake in that mess, I identified the ones behind fuse box searched the bitter ends in cab and spliced them all at once. Then while I was doing my first add on put butt conecters on all 4 behind fuse box, so now all that needs to be done is splice into the next one.

I removed the wheel well liner on the drivers side and was able to work with the wires without a problem. The upfitter wires are folded and taped to the other wires so cutting the tape will give you about an extra 2" to work with. There is plenty of room to get tools up there once you remove the wheel well liner.
