column shifter replacement?
been a while since i last posted. i've already got all my shock absorbers and front coil springs replaced. truck runs good. next step is new tires and to change out the steering stabilizer.
just out of curiosity. the cover on my column shifter was missing when i bought the truck. i'm trying to replace that. can i use the column shifter for the 6.4 or 6.7 trucks? i seem to have a part number and it's for a 2008 to 2010, but if i can replace my current column shifter with a 2012 version, that will be cool! here's the part number i found. 8C3Z-7210-AA. maybe some folks may have experience with that or can look into that? thanks in advance.
so is an upgrade like that even possible? if not, anyone have the part number for a new column shifter for a 2005 f-350? stuff works, but it's starting to look like an eye sore. lol.
also, the needle is a little loose. only just a little. i think i glanced at some page on our forum where it says to tighten some nut by a thin cable underneath the steering column and also to tighten 2 t-30 bolts? please confirm, and if anyone has the procedure to do that specifically, i'd really appreciate that. i just dont want to screw up. thanks guys!
Yes you can adjust it down below the column under the dash.
I know because last time I had the cluster out I had to undo
the cable. Not sure on the Torx bit size. The nut will let you
center the pin over the right letter/number. On using a new
cover it would depend on how Ford changed the setup.
And yes I can see why that would be an eye sore.
Welcome back
Sean
ahhh......... it reeks of Fords. lol. only way i like it.
Sean, i'm not changing the cover but since i was planning on changing out my column gear shifter stick, i happened to glance at the new shifter designs for the 2008 and up. i was wondering if i could install the new column shifter stick in place of my stick? i dont want to go back to the original stick for my 2005 if i dont need to.
have a great sunday y'all!
