Front Wheel Bearing Torque

I am going to replace my front wheel bearings on my 1994 4wd F150 with 140,000 miles. What is the best way to torque the bearings? What is the torque spec. Thanks Darrin

I did a search and could not find anything. Does anybody remember any posts on this subject?

Front Wheel Bearing Torque

I don't know what the specs are. But I always tighten the nut until the hub will still turn and so that I can get the cotter pin back in. Get it as tight as you can without putting it in a major bind. You don't want it so loose, that it will spin freely, but so that it will turn and not be in a bind. Hope that helps.

The method I have used is to tighten the nut so that the wheel will not turn. This seats the bearing. Then back off the nut a quarter turn so that the wheel spins freely. Then spin the wheel a bunch of times, turn in the nut again until the wheel stops spinning, then back it off a quarter turn again.
