Tire size question
I have a 2004 F250 4X4 with 6.0 single rear wheels. The original tire size should be 264 X 75 X 16. The truck now has 315 X 75 X 16 Mud Grips. The speedometer reads at least 6 MPH slower and the trip computer is off as well. I believe for every 100 miles traveled I have really traveled 110 miles. My question is how much better fuel mileage and performance could I get if I went back to the original tire size in an all-terrain version? The truck seems to shift out of overdrive a little too seen to me which makes me think the larger tires are holding it back. I purchased the truck used with the larger size mud grips on it. I love the way it looks with the taller mud grips on it but would be willing to put the original size tires back on when it came time to buy new ones in the near future if I were able to get significantly better fuel mileage and performance.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I cant be 100% on the performance but more then likely you would see 1-3 mpg going back to the stock tire.. Not sure what your getting now, but most of the guys from the mpg thread from a few days/week back had 16-18 with stock and anything bigger was looking at 10-14

I guess it is not going to make much difference. 18 MPG is what I get right now with the bigger tires on it.
