Tire vs mpg
okay so here's my question. when will bigger tires actually effect your mpg? I have a bit bigger tire than stock 265 and was just curious if im actually getting better mpg than what I am calculating

Any tire size bigger than stock will give you lower MPGs.
The bigger tires weigh more and lower your affective gear ratio (making it harder on the engine to accelerate, which means it's working harder and using more gas)
One size up isn't to bad, but the bigger you go the worse mileage gets.

With one size bigger the odometer in your truck will be doing 1-2 MPH faster around 65MPH than it says, so that means your truck is actually getting better gasmileage b/c it isn't recording a couple miles.

I have an 04 f150 superscrew 5.4 i just put 285/70-17 as opposed to the 275/65-18. with the 275, i would get anywhere from 12-14mpg and with the 285s now im getting like anywhere from 11-13. but it looks alot better and i dont do too much driving anymore,
