Hey, guys. Been a while since I've needed to post. I tried doing some searching and ain't coming up with anything good so far. I have a 1996 F-250 4x4. Recently my daily commute increased substantially and over the past two weeks my brakes started acting up. When the truck gets hot, the truck will feel like I'm running over pot hole after pot hole when I hit the brakes. Can anybody help?
Front rear? "pot holes" when braking huh yea that's pretty bad.
Rust belt? could be just heat warped rotors but could also be caused by rotted away cooling fins, allowing disk to crush under pressure of caliper in one area of the rotation.
Here where I live I've taken them off, stuck two large screw drivers into fins, pealed disk in two.
Could be drums out of round however your statement makes me think front more then rear.
E-brake works fine but never use it. Checked it last earlier this week. The truck
has very little rust on the radiator support and that's it, not a spot anywhere else. Pads have plenty of life left as the same with the shoes. Will be checking rotors tomorrow. On another note, I pulled the master cylinder earlier. I'll post pics of what I found in the morning, very surprised and may have solved my problem.
