How do I identify my Brake System?

I have a 78' F-150 4x4 and I want to do a drum repair kit on the back axle. It seems there is a 11" X 2-1/4" kit and a 12x3" kit and I'm not sure which one to order. Any help is appreciated!

The easiest way is to pull a rear drum and measure the width of the shoe. Also, look on the drum, the max diameter allowed should be cast into it. That will tell you whether it's 11" or 12"

I looked it up in the Ford parts catalog, from mid '75-up it only shows 11"X2 1/4" rear brakes. The only 12 X 3 it shows is for the F250.
