2012 Question

I ordered a 2012 Super duty in July
I was due in last week and now the dealer said this week
Still as of noon today no truck
Now I am being told that since I ordered the mud flaps and spray in bed liner it may take longer
I was told Ford doesn't do this that Ford takes if from the factory in Kentucky and takes it to an outside vendor for this to be done?
Is the above true or am I getting a snow job?
I was also told this will take extra time and it will delay the truck?
How long is normal from the time you order a truck till it shows up at the dealer normally?
Also the sales man said he wasn't sure if it would be on a trailer over the road from Kentucky or if by train to Ayer mass and then by truck
Would anyone know how it would of been shipped ?
Thanks for any help....

Ps
I did the dealer a favor and let them have my 2010 Super Duty in early August to help them out so they could try and sell it and keep the miles off for them
I am thinking I shouldn't of done that...

Bummer - dont know what to say

I did the Line-X liner ( 1 day turn around) and installed the mud flaps myself

Actually today I put in the rear wheel liners today

All I can say is follow up every couple of days

My 2010 I went with Linex and it is a great product
the salesman showed me the Ford spray in liner and it looked ok so I said add that in
I thought it would save time after the truck got here
Stupid me lol
Thanks for the feedback...

The my Ford dealer has Line-X do them.
Looks great, they do fade pretty quick.

I have Line-X in my truck and am super pleased with it. Just food for thought here but you might consider getting the Line-X done and ordering the flaps from Ford Accessories or Tousley and install them yourself. If it will get your truck done and shipped, I would anyway.

The splash guards are a simple DIY install and while the Tough Bed liner is nice, the Line-X is generally thicker and has a lifetime warranty instead of expiring when the truck is out of warranty.

Also, the wait time on ordered trucks varies. A friend of mine ordered a 2012 July 3rd and it came in a couple of weeks ago. I ordered a new 2005 in late August of 2004 and it didn't come in until December 23rd of 2004. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Parts availability does sometimes affect production and shipping. Some have posted on here that trucks have been known to come off the line only to wait in the yard until missing items arrive and get installed prior to shipping.

I was under the impression that your dealer can tell when/how it was shipped. To the point that once it goes on a train you can track the train through a CSX automated system. I did that and it was cool.

Check with the dealer to see if it's even been built yet. From the sound of the runaround you're getting, I would be curious to see if it's even been built. There have been dealers that have dropped the ball on orders before and the customers have found out that the trucks never even got built. If not, ask them is it will expedite the order if you delete those two options. If it will, have them delete the Tough Bed and the splash guards. Then when the truck comes in, you can have the Line-X done yourself and order / install the splash guards yourself. If the truck's already been built, see if they can delete those two items and go ahead and ship it.

Two bonuses with this:

1) If you're financing the truck, those two options won't be financed in with the rest of the truck. Not a big deal but every penny of interest saved is a plus.

2) The Line-X is a better bedliner option in my opinion and you have more choices when it comes to colors, UV protection, etc. Plus it's got a lifetime warranty. The splash guards are simple to install and you can probably get them cheaper by going through Tousley and doing it yourself.

Put the dealer on the hot seat then. Ask them about deleting the two options that are holding up shipment. I'd remind them about you having let them have your other truck and remind them that they're not the only Ford dealer around. There are plenty out there that would love to have the business.

If the truck is built how do you delete items?

Those options apparently haven't been installed as of yet or they would have shipped the truck. If that's what is holding it up, ask the dealer if they can change the order to drop those items.

From what you're saying, the truck is built and sitting in limbo in the yard waiting to be shipped out to another vendor to have the bedliner sprayed and splash guards installed. If they drop those two items from the order, perhaps they can go ahead and ship the truck. It's worth asking because right now you have no truck.

I wouldn't even mess with the dealer at this point for tracking purposes. If it's built, get the VIN from the dealer and call Ford customer service. They'll tell you what's up.

Me thinks the bedliner/mud flap story is mumbo jumbo...

I have just found out from a person on here the truck is still in kentucky
At this point ford sucks
I have spent 1/2 a million bucks with this dealer over the last 30 years and they can even tell me where the truck is (yes that is a true statement)
The truck was built the 3rd week in August
And it still sits there
This very well may be my last ford product
I cant stand poor service...
