I noticed today in traffic my in dash oil gauge dropped a couple of times and the Check Gauges light came on. The gauge dropped and was showing no pressure for only a couple of seconds each time it did it. Each time it dropped I tapped on the gas and the needle when back up and the check gauges light came off.
What could be the cause to this? bad sending unit? I just had my oil change at the dealer. I also have a scangauge II is there a gauge to show oil pressure? From my understanding the scangauge will not show high pressure oil, but will it show low pressure oil?
It will actually show high pressure (ICP) and not low pressure. The dash gauge is nothing but an idiot light with a needle. Most likely you have a bad connector or bad sending unit. If you actually had NO LPO then the truck would shut off.
what year is the truck. if you have the early style swashplate then the pump may have sit the ball outor it could be the sender. if its the later style pump then sending unit would be the casue.

That's makes sense, thanks for your input. Isn't ICP Injector Control Pressure?

you have a swash pump. If the ball has come out of the pump you will have the same issue. basicly the low side pump cant keep pase and is draining the low side system.
the easy way to figure out what one it is is to install a base oil pressure gauge and go drive it. Or you can just replace the sender as its much cheeper to do and see what happens. after replacing the sender if the concern is still there you need a pump.
