I would like to raise the front of my truck about 3" or 4" to level it out. Who builds a kit for this? is this a fairly easy job? Does this effect the front driveshaft length or will the stock shaft work ok without any problems?
Most levelling kits are less than 3", mine is a 2.7" mini spring pack. More than 3" you will for sure need an adjustable track bar, and possibly other parts such as pitman arm. Driveshaft shouldn't be needed for quite a bit more lift, unless you are doing some hard core jumping or something like that.
But with less than 3" most don't have any issues. Either a mini spring pack or replacement shackles work fine. Beyond that another option is full spring replacements.
As for a kit? Depends on what you want to spend really. I really like Trevor at Precision Metal Fab's stuff, but it can be a little pricey for some Precision Metal Fab Lot's of kits on Ebay just search levelling kit, Clay at Riffraff also sells some stuff from ICON Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: - Icon Vehicle Dynamics Even places like Advance I have heard carry shackle kits for around $30 if you just want to go simple.
I dont know how much mine actually lifted due to the previous owner for some reason putting 2 inch blocks in the front. But I used the zoneoffroad 2.5 leveling kit just to keep it where it was at to fit the tires on it. But using that kit I basically took the blocks out of the front to replace with those expecting it to be the same. I was wrong, guess I had a lot sag in the front leaf springs, because I went up roughly 2 more inches from the blocks. It went up enough I had to add 3 inch blocks in the rear with the stock 2 inch, a total of roughly 5 inches in the rear, just to get a little rack to it to tow. Another reason I used that kit is because it came with the adjustable track bar. I had something around here with the numbers I got with it, Ill see if I can find it.
Here was my findings when I installed mine. This is just what I got, it can differ from vehicle to vehicle due to mileage, and the amount of wear already on the front leaf springs.
I have the same truck as you and I am thinking of going with the ReadyLift. It gives you 2.5". I lifted mine 2.5" with a floor jack to see how it would look and it looked pretty good.
