I am researching 2009-2011 F250s for my grandparents. They are looking for a truck to tow thier 2004 26' 5th wheel. I was wondering if anyone had some information on the different powertrains available in those years. Thier 5th wheel has 2 pop-outs but is mostly alluminum so it is fairly lightweight. I am assuming any F250 can pull it just fine but I wanted to make sure and get some more imformation to use while helping them shop around.
you might get better responses in the super duty forum. If it were me and I could afford it I'd get '11 or '12 SD with the 6.7 powerstroke. Everyone I've talked to have been extremely pleased with theirs, they say they have plenty or power and have been alot more reliable than the previous 6.4. The MPG's on the 6.7 are also supposed to be alot better than the 6.4 since the 6.7 uses urea to help reduce emmisions and therefore the DPF system doesn't have to burn fuel to self clean as much as it does on the 6.4.
Also alot of guys are going with the 350 since the newer 250's have a trendancy to sag more when loaded. I guess Ford is putting softer suspensions in the newer HD trucks to improve ride. The move up to a 350 is only around a $1000 more than the 250.
