Thermostat Housing Repair

taking my thermostat housing to a machine shop on Monday...as I was twisting the water pump inlet hose...the metal tube from the housing snapped off (rusted out) hopefully they can tap a new hose fitting into the hole. Will let you all know how much that cost when it's done.

p.s. I'm glad I decided to change out every coolant line or I would have had a major problem one day.

No...it's close except the inlet pipe is straight, those bolt holes are off too by the looks of it

Talking

Alright, I got it fixed. the water inlet part (where hose goes over) is actually not part of the housing itself and is a metal tube that is pressed in. The machine shop was able to punch out all the old stuff, clean out the hole, and tap in a new hose fitting. All for $23.00 including the new part

Just to add to your knowledge that is called a bypass tube, them rotting away was a common problem and could be obtained at any parts store at one time. I've replaced many over the years they are just a press fit. It looks like they tapped yours, that's a good idea if you ever need to change it in the future. The other problem area is where the bypass hose connects to the water pump.
