2005 F250 power stroke. this has been going on a while so my memory slips me with some of the exact info but here we go. Batteries about two years old and I checked them one at a time and they checked out ok. When I got them the sales person was surprised I wanted that much cranking power. I dont' remember how much I have but it was more than what was called for. The 4 switches on the dash,, (forget the names of them too) I added some fog lights in the bumpers and a high idle mode on another one. I cut the light wire wondering if that was killing the battery. I have a fuel pressure and oil pressure gauge. everything goes off with the key. Also I have the edge thingy for the digital gauges. Recently I started unpluging that and it seemed to help but still if the truck sits for a week, it has trouble starting. Im not sure any of this is causing my problem since just about the time I added this stuff I stopped driving the truck every day so the problem may have been there longer. any ideas what to check for??? thanks.
I have heard of people replacing batteries every couple years to keep the voltage up. You can take the negative cable off and use a volt meter to test between the neg cable and terminal post, should be drawing less than .25 amps. If it is drawing more you can pull the fuses until it goes down, that should help pin point the problem.
